Nine-Man West Brom Beaten Late On

West Brom
1 - 2
Bournemouth

The Hawthorns

19/12/15

Attendance: 26,127

Referee:

West Brom's Premier League season continued with a two-one defeat against the in-form Bournemouth, who made it three wins in a row, at the Hawthorns on Saturday in a game that saw the Baggies end with nine-men.

The first player went on 34-minutes when James McClean saw a straight red for cutting down Adam Smith, but the first half ended goalless.

A 20-yard Smith effort had Bournemouth ahead early in the second half but with the final 10-minutes approaching Gareth McAuley's header looked to have earned West Brom a point until a late Charlie Daniels' penalty, which shouldn't have been, won it for the Cherries with three-minutes to play.

When Salomon Rondon and Dan Gosling clashed late on Rondon also saw red to see West Brom end with nine-men with both players set to serve three-match bans.

These were the other results.

Chelsea quite possibly, some would say probably, would have beaten Sunderland as they did anyway with the post-Jose Mourinho era beginning with a three-one win for the Champions at Stamford Bridge but it's Leicester, who beating the Blues that ended his second spell, that will be top at Christmas after a three-two win over Everton at Goodison Park.

Bournemouth did Man United the week before and this time round they won again (as we know) with a two-one win at West Brom, the 'surprise' defeat United suffered at Bournemouth last Saturday was most definitely bettered by Norwich's shocking of the Red Devils at Old Trafford with the Canaries going away with a two-one win!
