Gabr Relishing West Brom Shot
With West Bromwich Albion announcing the signing of Ali Gabr, the Egyptian international has said he can't wait to get started in the 'best league in the world'.
With speculation about Gabr's arrival from Zamalek FC well known about, yesterday the player completed the terms of his loan deal to us and we do have a buy clause on the 18 capped international should all go well in the second half of the campaign.
The 29 year old already has the fee agreed for his services should we decide to take it up.
Speaking to wba.co.uk he explained.
'Of course this is a great opportunity to come to the Premier League - the best league in the world. It's something I couldn't say 'no' to. I'm very happy and excited to be here. I'm really looking forward to getting started with the players and the team. I'm here to help the team and to do my job. Whatever the team's targets are, I'm going to help them achieve it.'
Helping him settle into the club will be fellow Egyptian Ahmed Hegazi who he knows well as both came through Ismaily SC's youth system.
'I spoke to Ahmed a lot before I came over. We were in constant contact. We've known each other for a long time and have played with each other for a long time - even when we were much younger. I feel very comfortable playing alongside him because of our experience together with the national team.'
Gabr is a centre half and plays alongside Hegazi at international level and the 6ft 4in player has taken the No 16 shirt.
