Foster Praises West Brom Support

Former England goalkeeper Ben Foster has hailed the support of the fans during a troubling time for West Bromwich Albion and he knows three points against Brighton this weekend would give everybody a boost of confidence.

With struggles in the Premier League so far this year, the departure of Tony Pulis and the arrival of Alan Pardew, we took a while to get going under the new gaffer but did kick of 2018 with a much needed win in the FA Cup third round tie against Exeter City and Foster knows that a home victory this weekend against Chris Hughton's promoted side would give us some momentum.

Speaking to wba.co.uk this week as build up to the game began, Foster's focus was on three Premier League points.

'The fans have been absolutely first-class, at the last couple of away games, especially. Away at Stoke and at West Ham we've lost the games but I think everyone can see that we're giving it everything we've got at the moment, and even though we've lost 3-1 and 2-1 we're still getting clapped off this pitch - that's amazing.'

Foster went on to say of the support that it did make a difference when the players were tired against West Ham United in particular.

'Especially at West Ham, the players were so tired at the end of the game, and the fans could sense that'd we'd given it everything and we'd just come up short at the end. It was nice to see them clapping us off at the end.'

Turning attentions forward to this weekend's clash, he went on to say.

'Three points on Saturday would get everyone a little bit more optimistic. When you're at the bottom of the league it can get a little negative and pessimistic but a big win on Saturday - it would be a huge win - it just keeps us in contact with the teams above us and it gets the belief back that we can do this. I think everybody in the changing rooms believes we can do it and it starts Saturday. Don't get me wrong it's a big game, and if we can get three points, it would be a huge three points.'
