Burke Ready To Make His Mark

Burke Ready To Make His Mark

Summer signing Oliver Burke has said that with 90 minutes under his belt for West Bromwich Albion's Under 23 squad in last night's defeat to Coventry City, he's fit and ready to get his career at the club really under way now.

The 20 year old Scotsman stepped up his recovery from a hamstring injury in last night's EFL Trophy clash and he was pleased to get a full game under his belt even if we lost two one on the night.

Speaking to wba.co.uk with him only having two substitute appearances to his name following his £15million arrival from Red Bull Leipzig, Burke explained.

'I`m really happy to get the minutes in and a full game under my belt. It`s something I haven`t been able to do in a long time because of my injury so I`m chuffed to bits - and I`m happy to score as well.'

Burke had praise for the youngsters on display in the game as well and although he was disappointed with defeat, he had his eyes on the first time and getting himself going at the club.

'I`m delighted for the team because we were a really young side, some of them are first year and second year scholars so doing well against a first team - I`m dead chuffed for the boys. My focus switches to the first team now and I want to help them as much as I can and give them a different outlet on the park. The Huddersfield game I travelled but didn`t play as a precaution. Obviously with my hamstring and the fact that I hadn`t played a full game yet, to come on would have been risky.'

He added.

'But I`ve got the minutes under my belt now. I feel fit and I feel ready to go so I`m looking forward to helping the team. The hamstring is great. I feel back to my normal self and I`m really happy.'
