Chelsea's Stamford Bridge homecoming resulted in the champions' thrilling 4-3 win over Watford - a fifth victory in a row for the Blues, crowned Premier League winners last Friday. Despite battling back from 3-1 down to secure what looked to be a point, a late goal meant the Hornets suffered a fifth defeat in a row as the pressure continued to grow on boss Walter Mazzarri.

Arsenal, who had a whopping 36 attempts on target, eventually secured a 2-0 win over bottom-of-the-league Sunderland - beaten for a seventh time in 10 games - on Tuesday to take the battle for a Champions League place to the final day of the season. A point behind Liverpool and having a slightly worse goal difference, the Gunners must beat Everton on Sunday and hope the Reds drop points against the Black Cats' rivals Middlesbrough - second-bottom and also already relegated.

Manchester City, back up to third ahead of Liverpool, fourth, moved to the brink of confirming a top-four finish after a 3-1 win over West Brom at the Etihad Stadium. City now require a minimum of a point to assure Champions League football next season - their superior goal difference should now secure this regardless? As for Albion, an eighth game without a win - six have been lost - saw them drop below Southampton, eighth, on goal difference before the Saints had even played.
